Birsen has written 3 books about her life with autism.

Book 1 ‘I don’t want to be invisible anymore’
In her first book ‘I don’t want to be invisible anymore’ Birsen wrote her life story. A life with autism in an immigrant culture in the Netherlands. Although her loving and caring parents tried everything to make Birsen have friends with other peers and family members, there was incomprehension in the surroundings about autism (otizm in Turkish). By praying and meeting people, the problem would resolve itself.

In immigrant cultures little is known about the various forms of the autism spectrum disorder like the syndrome of Asperger and PDD-NOS. Birsen wants to change that. So she gives young adults immigrants with autism a voice. This book has been published in collaboration with the Dutch Association for Autism. The Dutch Association for Autism has added an additional chapter for parents, care workers and teachers about autism in the immigrant culture.
